Don't allow your teen to have their own computer in their bedroom. Set limits on when, and for how long, your teen can be online. Establish the Internet as a privilege, not a need. You can remove or block applications such as IM (Instant Messaging) and chat software.
Parents, you can research where you teen has been going online. Either view the history or favorites on your internet browser, or if your teen has already cleared these lists, contact your computer manufacturer who can help you locate the permanent history on your hard drive.
There are inexpensive software programs you can purchase for your computer which secretly record all activity, keystrokes, usernames and passwords on your computer, along with the exact date and time.
