20% of teens between 13 & 19 have posted or sent nude/semi-nude photos of themselves.

Adult laws apply to teens for sexting. Offenders may face child pornography or sex offender charges.

Guilt and shame after sending images can lead to sever depression and desperate actions.

Sending/receiving sexually suggestive messages is more prevalent than sending/receiving nude/semi nude images.

Talk to your kid about inappropriate use of a camera both privately and publicly (for example, photos from a party). Define unacceptable photos of himself/herself. Define inappropriate "sex talk" and set expectations.

Talk to your kids about what they are doing in cyberspace. Read everything they are posting in cyberspace. www.sextingisstupid.com.

Know who your kids are communicating with. Consider limitations on electronic communications. Discuss a plan of action if he/she receives a message/photo.
