TAKING AWAY THEIR CELL PHONE AND INTERNET AT NIGHT CAN HELP KEEP YOUR TEEN IN BED.

Generally begins innocently with teens gathering on a neighborhood corner.

Initially, it may be for only an hour or two but when they don't get caught they
become more daring.

Sneaking out leads to other behaviors that teens would generally not be exposed to during normal hours. (smoking, drinking, drugs, skinny dipping, sexual behavior, vandalism, underage driving, etc.).

Don't think because your teen otherwise does not give you any problems that they would not consider sneaking out. Sneaking out is the perfect opportunity for your teenager to participate in activities that they know would not receive your approval.

Most teens know how to disarm an alarm system. Take away cell phones, telephones and computers at night to minimize opportunities to plan sneaking out. But, realize that this won't eliminate sneaking out.

Don't risk getting that phone call in the middle of the night explaining that your teenager has been in an accident or has been arrested when all along you thought they were asleep in bed.
