Many employers offer matching gift programs and will match the cash, check, credit card, and stock gifts of employees, retirees, as well as spouses.
A matching gift is a type of corporate philanthropy in which a company matches donations made by its employees to eligible nonprofit organizations.
Step 1: Make a donation to Operation Parent.
Step 2: Submit a matching gift request to your employer. If you use the Double the Donation search tool, you will receive a follow-up email linking to the appropriate page.
Step 3: Once all paperwork is complete, Operation Parent and your employer will communicate to verify your initial donation and complete the match.
For questions or more information regarding matching gifts, please contact Tara Oliver, Director of Fund Development, at tara@operationparent.org or by calling 502.265.9045, ext.2.

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a simple, flexible, and tax-efficient way to support your favorite charities. It's like a charitable investment account, managed by a public charity that sponsors a DAF program, where you can contribute assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to nonprofits over time.
DAFs are ideal for:
- Individuals and families looking to streamline their giving
- Businesses seeking a structured approach to philanthropy
- Anyone wanting to build a legacy of charitable impact
DAFs offer several key benefits:
- Simplicity: The sponsoring charity handles all paperwork and disbursements.
- Flexibility: Donate now, decide later where to give.
- Tax Efficiency: Immediate tax deductions and tax-free investment growth.
- Legacy Building: Involve your family in giving decisions.
- Low Cost: There is no cost to establish a donor‐advised fund. However, there are often minimum initial charitable contributions to establish the DAF (typically $5,000 or more). Once approved, 100% of your recommended grant goes to your qualified public charity of choice. Sponsoring organizations generally assess an administrative fee on the assets in a DAF. These fees vary by organization.
- Privacy: Option to give anonymously.
1. Contribute: Make an irrevocable donation of cash, securities, or other assets to a sponsoring charity.
2. Invest: Choose from investment options to potentially grow your charitable dollars.
3. Recommend Grants: Suggest grants to IRS-qualified charities at your convenience.
4. Support Causes: Your chosen nonprofits receive the funds, often without needing to issue a tax receipt.
- $54.77 billion in grants were made from DAFs to nonprofits in 2023.
- $251.52 billion in total charitable assets are held in DAFs, a nearly 10% increase from 2022.
- 322,000+ donors used Fidelity Charitable [2] DAFs in 2023.
- Nearly 75% of DAF contributions are granted within 5 years.
